Space Oddity
23. “Space Oddity” is a David Bowie song that was written after Bowie (stoned at the time) saw the Stanley Kubrick film “2001: A Space Odyssey”. The song was picked up by British television and used as background for the moon landing broadcast. It might have been better if the TV producers had listened to the lyrics. As the narrative goes: Major Tom has a successful take off but ends up floating away in space.
