Time Has Come Today
229. “Time Has Come Today” is a psychedelic, soul, protest song by the Chambers Brothers that was written by Joe and Willie Chambers. The song was released at the height of social unrest during the 60s. This song spoke to the youth culture that were fighting for civil rights, social justice and an end to the Vietnam War. The repetition of the word "Time!" makes it clear that the song is a call to action. Midway through the song the lyrics break, and the percussionist’s replicate a slow beating clock which then speeds up and moves to a double time beat indication that the time for action has come.
